Step 2: Ideas, Feasible Ideas and Excellent Ideas.

Specification

You may design a game from your own initiative, or you may have been asked to design one for a given Specification. A sepcification is a set of requirements to be met, in simple words. For example: In this project you are required to design a game for young people under the age of 18. It must have positive impact on their lives, and it should have at least two levels. The game should have one player controlled character and non-player-controlled characters. It should display certain information such as score. That would be a short simple specification for your unit 22 project.

High concepts

These are the ideas leading to successful games!

Breakout game. The game consists of a board, a ball and a series of bricks within a room. The ball flies and bounces off the walls and ceiling. If the ball hits a brick, the brick will disappear and 10 points will be scored. If the ball touches the floor then a life is lost. if all three lives are lost then the game is over. The player contrls the board to catch and bounce the ball to prevent it from touching the floor. Once all the bricks are cleared, the game moves onto next level. The audience would be both young people and adult as this game is simple but challenging in many different ways. The audience gain joy by controlling the ball to hit the target, practising eye-hand coordination, improve reflex time, By introducing a timer, then ... Having a high score to see who clears the field first amongst friends.
